News: Next Commission Meeting at the AACS Annual Meeting in Denver, CO, February 6th and 7th, 2016

The Midyear CAPACS Board Meeting will be held on Saturday, February 6th, 2016 (1:00-5:00 pm), and Sunday February 7th, 2016 (8:00 am-12:00 pm),in the Teal Conference Room (Lobby Level) at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Denver Tech Center in Denver, CO, site of the 2016 AACS Annual Meeting (7801 East Orchard Rd; Greenwood Village, CO 80111-2508; USA; Tel: +1 (303) 779-6161; Fax: +1 (303) 253-3500).

CAPACS is pleased to welcome Dr. James Lee (Chair, Department of Justice Studies; San Jose State University; San Jose, CA), Dr. Gina Finelli (Assistant Professor, Sociology; Anne Arundel Community College; Arnold, MD), and Dr. Susan Rahman (Instructor, Sociology, Psychology and Behavioral Sciences; College of Marin; Sebastopol, CA) to the CAPACS Board. Their terms begin January 1st 2016.

CAPACS is pleased to announce that Dr. Sheila Katz (Assistant Professor, Sociology; University of Houston; Houston, TX) was elected by the CAPACS Board in August to serve as CAPACS Secretary. Dr. Katz’s terms begins January 1st 2016.  The Commission extends its appreciation to Dr. Laura Nichols (Associate Professor, Sociology; Santa Clara University; Santa Clara, CA) for her excellent service as CAPACS Secretary, and Past Section Chair for the ASA Section on Sociological Practice and Public Sociology (SPPS).
